ref. OFBIZ-5179 -- Paypal Checkout

c.schinzer-2
Guys,

after 3 days of reserach and trying to make this work, I conclude that the
PayPal services are not usable ootb. Any comments?

The following is missing from my PoV:

- services incomplete / wrong interface services defined
- PayPalServices.java is not efficiently using context and existing Workers
(for Cart and Store)
- documentation outdated (PayPal calls the PROD environment 'live', not
'PROD')
- redirect screen definitions for PayPal checkout also missing
- ...

Either I am entirely on the wrong path here, or the suggestive "Just add
your paypal configuraiton and it will work" on the OFBiz Business Setup
guide is a joke.

Otherwise I propose to make it work in my webapp and contribute all missing
items to the abovementioned JIRA.

Also I noticed for GoogleCheckout there is an entire component in
specialpurpose.
Does it make sense to externalize the PayPal checkout in a similar way?
Is the integration made in Accounting eventually limited to PayPal payments
checking and not for ECommerce Store payments?

Can anyone please comment who recently added PayPal services to their
webapp?

Regards

Carsten

One thing I usually include in my research is the commit history for the
files being analyzed. If there hasn't been any commit activity lately,
then most likely the code has become out-of-date.

So, the instructions in the Business Setup Guide might be outdated, but
they were never a joke.

Hello and thanks for the tip. And apologies for the wording. Last
functional change on the services classes in accounting.payment.thirdparty
seems to date from early 2010.
It seems really really outdated.
Either no-one is using PayPal any more, at least not recently, or people
have their secrets ;-)

I'll open a new JIRA to describe issue and the solution I have in mind and
make the above JIRA a dependant child of it to avoid confusion.
