Jacques Le Roux commented on OFBIZ-5307:
----------------------------------------

It seems to me that there are other cases for Open-End production runs. Notably in meat industry where you can sell a complete slaughtered animal (product) or parts of it (co-products and by-products). When the inputs (incoming costs) are actually not only the animal but also all what is neeeded to grow it: the food, straw, facilities, logistic, slaughtering, etc.

For me, at some point, you finally have a product (the animal to be slaughtered). But I don't see how you can generate co-products and by-products using OFBiz OOTB MRP and BoM. That why I spoke about missing Reversed/Inverted/Breeder BoM. But I'm far from a manufacturing expert...

Pierre, with ORRTIZ, I guess you have an experience on that type of process, which should pretty similar?.

> Currently the system only allows for 1 product to be made up from multiple other products.
> A common process in manufacturing is to either manufacture multiple parts from one part (e.g Chop a length of steel that has been ordered in from a supplier and manufacture your own washers) or to disassemble a returned manufactured item into its components and restock these components.
> The BOM/MRP/ Manufacturing and production run functionality should be changed to allow for production runs in both ways (assemble / disassemble)
