Releasing 12.04.01

Jacopo Cappellato-4
Hi all,

are we ok about starting the process of delivering the first release in the 12.04 branch according to our tentative release schedule? The 12.04 branch has been stabilized since May 2012.
Do we feel it is a good time to issue an official release out of it?

Kind regards,

Jacopo

I am okay with it. If you don't mind, could we wait until after this
weekend? I would like to review my trunk commits this weekend and see if
any of them need to be backported. I seem to recall fixing some things
in the trunk but didn't have time to backport them to the release 12 branch.

Hi Adrian,

yes sure, there is no rush: in fact I am at ApacheCon this week and next week will be travelling as well and it would be easier for me as well to postpone the process of a few days. Just let me know when you are done and we will finalize our plans.

Thanks,

Jacopo

Re: Releasing 12.04.01

Medhat
Hi,

Does this release preserves all commits and bug fixes in Release 11.04.02 ?
Does this release preserves existing tables in data model implemented in Release 11.04.02, so the upgrade will be safe, no matter if new tables are added ?

If Both are Yes, so, I am waiting for it, many enhancements exist on Trunk and i hope they are included in the official release.

I am appreciating your Great Efforts and role.

Regards,
Medhat

Upgrading a minor release number (for example from 11.1 to 11.2 ) is
safe - there should not be any upgrade issues.

Upgrading a major release (from 11.x to 12.x) will require some work. We
allow non-backward-compatible changes in major releases  - which may
include data model changes.
